School Profile

Your iPhone, Android or iPad app would not be complete without some basic information about your school, where it's located, size, setting, costs, and admissions contact data. You can also want to take advantage of mobile devices' GPS location functionality by providing driving directions or even alerts when the user enters within a certain radius of your campus.

Campus Tour

A great feature that can range from simple to complex in its functionality. One option is to provide a list of campus landmarks/buildings and assign some pictures and written descriptions to each. Take it a step further by integrating with GPS location functionality and notify the user when they arrive at those campus landmarks. Or go even further and provide an interactive, custom map of your campus that shows the user's current location relative to key places they will be guided on a tour.

Messaging

Once a potential student or their parent has installed your admissions mobile app, it becomes a powerful tool for future communications. Messaging functionality enables you to keep-in-touch by sending messages on a wide or individual scale. Mass messaging is great for general announcements or deadline reminders, while individual communication is great for building strong connections with your prospective students.

Media Galleries

Media galleries are an essential part of any college or university mobile application. Sort photographs and/or videos into galleries that give a great representation of your campus life. Galleries also provide a great way to keep adding fresh content for your app users as well as social media sharing.

Events and Deadlines

There is no better tool for events and reminders than native mobile apps because of one characteristic, we are almost never without our phones! Whether it's email or surfing the net, people are always using their mobile devices, so what better way to keep your prospective students informed of upcoming events and deadlines?

Polls

Not a necessary feature, but it does add some fun and interactivity to your mobile app. Done correctly, you can even use it as a tool to gain valuable feedback from your prospects. Poll your users on what they like best and least about your school, ask them to review thier campus visit, ask them what you can do better.

Custom Forms

Adding a few custom forms to your college iPhone/Android/iPad mobile app will greatly enhance its usefulness. Not only can you collect basic lead information such as name, phone number, email, etc. but you can also ask for information about the users interests so that you can target them relevant future communications.

Social Media

Almost all college and university admissions offices now devote time and resources to some form of social media. Enabling the sharing of content and integrating your Facebook and Twitter accounts inside of your mobile app will help you get even more out of the effort you are already speding on social media.
